A medieval pele-tower house, expanded over centuries into a full manor and now branded simply 'Sizergh' by the National Trust. The gardens are a genuine draw in their own right, and the house tour brings out authentic, well-preserved interiors rather than a reconstruction.
The gardens - reviewers rate the walk around them as a highlight equal to the house tour itself, not just a pleasant extra.
The Trust has mobility trampers available that reviewers say give disabled visitors access to almost the entire grounds, though not the inside of the castle; on bank holidays expect a queue at the main cafe, but there's usually a quicker-moving outdoor coffee van as an alternative.
Reviewers consistently praise Sizergh Castle's gardens, knowledgeable staff, and well-furnished interior, with several highlighting the National Trust's mobility trampers that make most of the grounds accessible, though the castle interior itself isn't wheelchair-friendly, being an ancient building. One visitor mentions it can get crowded on bank holidays, but parking and cafe queues were still manageable.
