The low earthwork remains of what was originally more a moated manor house than a fortified castle, in a quiet, remote spot next to a church with an unusual round tower. There's little standing above ground level, and reviewers describe it honestly as a modest, brief stop rather than a highlight in its own right.
The setting - the remoteness and the neighbouring round-towered church do more work than the ruins themselves, according to reviewers.
Parking is shared with the church and reasonably limited; it's a one-minute walk from the small free car park to the site, so it works well as a quick add-on to a longer day rather than a dedicated trip.
Reviewers describe Weeting Castle as a quiet, out-of-the-way spot that's free to visit, with several enjoying the short walk and the nearby round-towered church. A couple of reviewers note that what remains is fairly modest - more a moated manor house site than a substantial castle - so it may disappoint anyone expecting a lot to see. Parking is limited, mainly serving the adjacent church.
“Lovely little place. Doesn't take long to walk around, but still steeped in history.”— Gillian Russell, visitor review
